Abstract

Until a few weeks ago when he retired, Keith R. McKennon was the chairman of Dow Corning. Later this week, he will receive the prestigious Chemical Industry Medal at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The New York City-based American Section of the London-based Society of Chemical Industry is awarding the gold medal in recognition of McKennon's leadership, foresight, and many contributions to applied chemistry which have enhanced the progress of the entire industry. Many in the chemical industry know McKennon as a leader who keeps a level head in a crisis. But he is proudest of his ability to advance the science and business of chemistry with like-minded men and women at Dow Chemical, and for the past two and a half years, at Dow Corning.
