Abstract

Objectives In this study, by applying Schwab's practical approach to the development of a modular curriculum at university, implications were drawn and the applicability and limitations were explored.
Methods First, as an arts of eclectic, analysis of prior research, analysis of the theory of related curriculum development, and application and modification of theories suitable for S cases were carried out. Second, as an arts of practical, it went through the deliberation process through the S University council. Third, the possibilities and limitations of applying the practical in the development of a modular curriculum were analyzed through the overall case. Meanwhile, Schwab's practical approach showed the possibility of utilizing the implications of theoretical analysis as an arts of eclectic in the development of a modular curriculum. And the applicability was shown in that useful results can be obtained through the deliberation.
Results Through the study, it was possible to derive implications related to the utilization method of demand survey, overall design template, lesson plan form, and overall operation for the S university modular curriculum. However, there was a limitation that formal deliberation was possible only when the curriculum development agenda was adopted as the university's official policy. In addition, it turned out to be a limitation that it was practically difficult for each university to comply with Schwab's the deliberation composition standards and procedures.
Conclusions Based on the results of this study, it was suggested that case studies that introduce the process of developing a modular curriculum in detail need to be further activated. In addition, it was suggested that additional discussion to help the deliberation-related guidelines be used flexibly is necessary.
