Abstract

The scattering of time-harmonic elastic waves by a semi-infinite fluid-filled crack in an elastic half-space is studied. The crack is assumed to be parallel to the free surface. The Wiener-Hopf technique is used. Special emphasis is put on the scattering of surface waves and explicit expressions for the reflected and transmitted waves are derived and numerically evaluated for two values of Poisson's ratio.
