Abstract

Different from the traditional method of solving coupled-mode equations to analyze 0.22 THz gyrotron circular waveguide TE <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0n</inf> -TE <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> mode conversion, the scattering matrix method based on the conservation of complex power technique (CCPT) is introduced to give full-wave analysis for optimal design of the converter. The numerical result is in agreement with that of HFSS simulation. The mode converter designed using this method can achieve efficiencies above 98.65%, bandwidth exceeding 7.8 GHz and 14.1 GHz respectively.
