Abstract

The field scattered by an impedance polygonal cylinder of infinite extent has been determined using the physical theory of diffraction with transition currents (PTD-TC) approach. The source of excitation is skew incidence time harmonic electromagnetic plane wave. In order to account for the contribution of diffracted surface field, when point of observation is far from the edges of the polygonal cylinder, corresponding asymptotic expression for the diffracted surface field have been utilized. It is noted that multiple interaction of diffracted field among the edges of the polygonal cylinder is not important, so multiple diffraction has not been taken into account for the evaluation of surface fields around the cylinder required to determine the scattered field.
