Abstract

Normally viewed chromatic-plus-white light mixtures are evaluated against central-view fields (haploscopic presentation of the chromatic component to one eye, white component to the other eye, at corresponding points) for red (W29), green (W65), and blue (W48) stimuli and luminance levels from 0.1 to about 300 mL. As evaluated by the central view, saturation and luminance level are shown to interact; differing colors produce disparate results, but all indicate the influence of central factors in our perception of saturation.
