Abstract

The Cabibbo-Radicati sum rule is generalized to spinJ and isospinT. The evaluation of the sum rule is performed in detail for nuclei withA ⩽ 50 and rather good approximations are given for nuclei withA > 50. By using some simple models and the Levinger nuclear sum rules, a good agreement is found with experimental data. The available nuclear models are less accurate than what is required by the sum rule, so it is not possible to consider the result as a test of current algebra.
