Abstract

Mirza Aziz Faizani Darapuri was a relatively lesser-known but prolific poet and writer of the Twentieth century. He has written admirable poetry in Persian, Urdu and Punjabi Languages. His poetry and articles were published in the leading newspapers and literary journals of his time. He lived a short but meaningful life and through his poetry and writings taught the Muslim Ummah a united and practical life. He was truly the heir and follower of poets like Maulana Hali, Akbar Allah Abadi, Allama Iqbal and Zafar Ali Khan etc. He wrote many books in poetry and prose. A few books were published in his lifetime but many books are still unpublished. His autobiography: Sarguzasht is also included in these unpublished books. His autobiography despite being short is a true reflection of all the important events and circumstances of his life. This autobiography is an important addition to the biographical literature of Urdu in terms of the authenticity of its text, simplicity of expression and charm of language.
