Abstract

The article examines the role of independent work in modern higher education institutions. It is defined that nowadays the independent work role is growing, in the process of which students gain new knowledge, skills, and abilities and gain creative experience. Independent study should contribute to the acquisition of skills to learn, self-develop, creatively apply the acquired knowledge and adapt to teaching. The specifics of the pedagogical educational institution students' independent work organization as an effective means of raising the level of knowledge and consolidation of practical skills in the study of the discipline “Second Slavic language” are considered. The main ways of forming students' motivation to work independently are determined. Among them are: • Taking into account the interests of students. • Use of interactive methods. • Selection of creative, problem-solving tasks. • The ability to choose the topic by students themselves. • Professional orientation of functions. • Providing opportunities to demonstrate their skills and others. The hours' ratio devoted to independent processing of material and hours for classroom work is analyzed. Practical methods and forms of organization of independent work of students are offered. Approximate topics of individual work and a system of linguistic exercises aimed at working on specific topics and consolidating the material are determined. The article notes that immense value in the course study is given to independent creative work, which activates the search activities of students of philology, promotes the development of thinking, strengthens memory, and expands analytical thinking. The conclusions state that in the conditions of education caused by the global pandemic, the role of students' independent work has sharply increased. This type of work is gradually becoming a leader in the organization of the educational process. Independent work should be organized so that each student's personality develops, as the primary function of independent work is the formation of a well-cultured personality.
