Abstract
Apresento aqui a imigração sária e libanesa para a cidade de São Luás a partir de 1885, quando se registram os primeiros imigrantes desembarcando no porto da capital maranhense, até o final da década de 1920. Neste trabalho, discuto a chegada destes na capital e a escolha de muitos pelo interior do estado. A difácil escolha em migrar e os percalços que essa opção impunha aos viajantes.
