Abstract
The safety of the supply chain is a major concern for scholars and entrepreneurs. This study primarily explores the safety motivation and safety cooperative behavior (SCB) of core enterprises participating in small and medium-sized manufacturing suppliers within the supply chain. This study aims to address the research gap in analyzing the role of safety motivation and SCB, with the goal of enhancing the overall safety level of the supply chain and reducing the incidence of safety risks. This study proposed a structural equation model and examined the relationships of safety motivation, safety management strength (SMS), safety coordination ability (SCA), and SCB. The questionnaire was collected from 299 core enterprises, excluding non-core enterprise samples. The findings from the study revealed a positive impact of safety motivation and SCA on SCB. Safety image motivation (SIM), safety supply motivation (SSM), and safety responsibility motivation (SRM) all have a positive impact on SMS, while SIM and SRM positively impact SCB. SCA acts as a significant mediator between SIM and SCB, SSM and SCB, as well as SRM and SCB. This study addresses the gap between safety motivation and SCB within the supply chain, providing a new research perspective on the supply chain.
