Abstract

The treatment planning and surgical management of patients with small and complex bony deficiencies and medical problems continue to be a reconstructive challenge for oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Today's 3D computer software technologies and the use of computer generated surgical guides offer new tools for the surgeon. The surgeon can evaluate and treat patients “virtually,” prior to performing “exploratory” reconstructive and implant surgery. These technologies allow the surgeon to think “out of the box” in sequencing and planning surgeries in these complicated patients.
