Abstract

This chapter deals the preprosthetic evaluation, treatment planning, and surgical management of patients who have lost natural teeth. The importance of proper treatment planning and the hard and soft tissue management procedures to provide patients with a functional prosthesis to restore function and esthetics are discussed. The focus of this chapter is the hard and soft tissue management primarily for removable prostheses. An introduction to ridge preservation for implant therapy is discussed. There has been significant advances in the preservation of natural dentition, yet there remains the need to restore and rehabilitate edentulous and partially edentulous patients.
