Abstract

Electromagnetic valve for controlling the refrigerant flow is attached to pipe in air conditioning units. Excitation force is generated in the pipe when electromagnetic valve opens and the refrigerant flows. We conducted an experiment in which we released compressed air from the electromagnetic valve and directly measured the excitation force generated using a load cell. On the other hand, pressure and the flow velocity in the pipe are calculated by fluid analysis. After that, using the pressure and the velocity, we calculated excitation force according to the momentum principle. We found that calculation results of excitation force agreed well with experimental results. Furthermore, to calculate the vibration displacement of pipe system, we applied the fluid-step excitation force to the finite element model of pipe system. This calculation results is also in agreement with experimental results.
