Abstract

In this study, we carried out a low resolution 2D-PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) measurement of low Reynolds number turbulent round jet. The spatial resolution was of the order of Taylor micro-scale and under-estimates the turbulence energy. Mean velocity statistics coincided with the standard reference. Second and third order statistics qualitatively in good agreement with the previous studies. The difference between the results is due to a loss of turbulence energy and the Reynolds number dependence. Nevertheless, the results showed the self-preserving property in far field region.
