Abstract

Results of identification of the s- and p-levels obtained by the moving sample method, and neutron cross sections of 120Sn are given. The measurements were performed on the linear electron accelerator of the Atomic Energy Institute with a resolution of 3.8 nsec m (total cross section) and 12 nsec m (capture and self-indication). The values of strength functions thus obtained S 0 = (0.08 −0.04 +0.1) × 10 −4 and S 1 = (3.7 −0.9 +1.8) × 10 −4 point to a strong influence of initial states in the production of the 121Sn compound nucleus.
