Abstract

The article reviews the children’s music of the outstanding Tatar composer Rustem Yakhin. Three piano cycles (“Three Pieces”, “Pictures of Nature”, “Summer Evenings”), individual children’s pieces and arrangements of folk songs are analysed. A characteristic feature of Yakhin’s work is the synthesis of European traditions with elements of Tatar musical folklore. The characteristics of the implementation of the national style in children’s music are considered. The originality of the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic structures chosen by the composer is emphasized.
