Abstract
The authors describe the relevance of the status of Russian classical literature as a program for educating the most important values of educational universalism for Russia. The education of future journalists should take into account this strategic resource for the reproduction of the Russian intellectual elite to the greatest possible extent. The article shows that in Russia, literature has determined and directed the main direction of sociocultural and civilizational development for centuries. This explains the concern of the education-oriented part of our society about the return of young people to reading Russian classics as a socialization program based on high spiritual ideals and values that manifest themselves through classical literary texts.
