Abstract

High performance computer simulation system plays an increasingly important role in exploration of complex science and engineering problems in the real world. A significant challenge is that the complexity of underlying resources always makes it difficult to rapidly construct a simulation application and rapidly deploy a run-time environment for users' tasks especially in the case of complex simulation applications. Virtualization technology provides a promising approach to solve this problem. This paper presents a run-time environment construction approach for virtualized simulation system. The paper first presents a model for high performance simulation system on virtualization. Then the paper describes the deployment approach to leveraging virtualized simulation resources to establish run-time simulation environment. The virtualization method can develop an effective approach for rapid and convenient deployment of simulation resources for complex simulation systems through dynamic distribution of customized virtual machine templates.
