Abstract
Many highly technological and dynamic environments require decision making without full knowledge. This symposium presents research from four disparate environments that fit this description: nuclear power plant operations; locating an enemy submarine from onboard a nuclear attack submarine; emergency room, trauma patient resuscitation; and operator teams onboard AWACS aircraft. The four papers also illustrate different ways of investigating and analyzing these situations and point to design guidelines for decision support in each domain.
