Abstract

Waves rolling onto the shore and shore-protection structures in zones of underwater canyons, for example, on the coast of the Imeretinskaya Depression in the Adler District of Sochi, is examined. It is established that the run of waves onto the shore in canyon zones exceeds the run in neighboring sections by more than two times; this does not follow from standard procedures. A mathematical model of the run of waves on shore, which takes into account differences in the inclines of the below- and above-water portions of the shore slope, and makes it possible to obtain parameters of the run in zones of underwater canyons, which correspond to observational data, is proposed.
