Abstract

The article deals with analyze of the events of 1919 when the Soviet Republic of Hungary was establishing under conditions of formation of the new Versailles system and the political struggle between the great powers for spheres of influence. It was the first attempt to extend the range of the geopolitical impact of Soviet Russia in Eastern Europe after the Brest Peace. Level of revolutionary activity in this period in Hungary, Germany, Slovakia was quite high which led to victory of the socialist revolution in these countries. Left-wing governments in Hungary, Slovakia, Bavaria, Ukraine relied on military assistance of the Russian Federation. The events of that period are considered from the standpoint of Russia’s geopolitical inte-rests. Struggle between left and right in the Bolshevik leadership, the Comintern and the European socialist movement on the issue of world revolution and the revolutionary war as well as contradictions in the camp of the victorious countries for coercive and peaceful influence on the socialist government are analyzed on the basis of a wide range of sources and archival materials. Particular attention is paid to the idea of creating a united revolutionary front-left Socialist Party and creation of the Soviet republics in Eastern Europe. Attempts of military assistance to the Hungarian Socialist government, the interaction of the armed forces of the Soviet republics are reviewed in the article. The Soviet government of Russia delayed to provide military assistance to the European communists in 1919 intending to negotiate with the Allies on the recognition of the Bolshevik power. Revolution in Eastern Europe had to defend themselves. Hungary should has played the major role. National interests of Soviet Russia were higher than international objectives. In 1919, the Bolshevik leadership tried to solve the geopolitical issues by relatively peaceful means on the basis of the unification of all left-wing forces in Europe.
