Abstract
Recently, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is considered one of the most significant transmission methods which are commonly used in LTE standard. However, high both Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and Out-Of-Band Emission (OOBE) are the most disadvantages of OFDM system. So, it doesn’t meet the service scenarios demand of 5G heterogeneous owing to its disadvantages. In contrast, Filtered-OFDM is considered as a strong candidate for 5G air interface owing to its capability of achieving very low OOBE and maintain Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. Nevertheless, a trade-off exists among reducing OOBE and degradation both BER and PAPR. In other hand, using error correction codes in noisy channels is very important issue to achieve the reliability in information transmission of digital communication systems. In this paper, Hard Decision Decoding (HDD) RS codes have been proposed for f-OFDM system to improve the data reliability over multipath fading channels. While, RS-LTE system has been used as baseline for comparison purpose in this paper. The results show that, the proposed system could effectively solve the trade-offs challenge, where it outperformed of RS-LTE system in terms of OOBE, PAPR and BER. So, the proposed system could be considered a strong contender waveform for 5G communication systems owing to these advantages.
