Abstract
The rotors are explained as a simple “cat's eye effect”, or transformation of a stationary wave motion into a system of vortices in the vicinity of a level where the basic wind velocity is vanishing. Some other applications of this same effect to phenomena of smaller or larger scale are also given. DOI: 10.1111/j.2153-3490.1955.tb01173.x
