Abstract
Using the quantum description of the rotational Stark effect the basis for the good agreement of experimental data for rate constants for charge transfer from an ion to a polar molecule with those following from the theory of isothermal capture has been justified. The calculations also show that in the capture process isotopic effects different from those expected on the grounds of classical capture theories may take place.
