Abstract
A fully constrained‐evolution scheme for 3 + 1 numerical relativity is proposed recently by Bonazzola et al.. [Phys. Rev. D 70, 104007 (2004)]. The scheme makes the joint use of the Dirac gauge, maximal slicing, and spherical components of tensor fields. We describe here a new numerical code for computing stationary axisymmetric rotating stars in general relativity within this framework. The code can be used to generate rotating‐star initial data for hydrodynamics simulations within the proposed constrained‐evolution scheme.
