Abstract

The aim of the article is to show the long-term effects of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and to reveal the difficult situation of people with disabilities in a war-torn country. Violence against this social category results, on the one hand, from the manner in which the Russians wage war, its aim being to exterminate the civilian population, including people with disabilities. On the other hand, it is a consequence of the destruction of infrastructure essential for people with disabilities as a result of military operations, which prevents them from meeting their basic needs and functioning on an everyday basis. The difficult experience of war also increases the number of patients with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and people who lose their fitness due to war injuries. This makes the situation of people with disabilities particularly difficult today in Ukraine, which is struggling with Russias aggression. Descriptions of individual cases of people who suffered and of to these events illustrate the above.
