Abstract

ABSTRACTRose is cultivated for ornamental and its different industrial products. Although the most important producer countries are Bulgarian and Turkey. In the world rose cultivation is important part of agriculture of many other countries. In Turkey, oil rose is more important with circa 400 ha growing area. Isparta, Burdur, Bursa, Denizli and Afyonkarahisar are major growing area. In this review, cultivation history and growing conditions of Rosa damascena Mill in Turkey will be introduced with details. In addition, a comprehensive explanation is given about botanical characteristics, systematic and widespread growing area in the world and Turkey regarding this species. The production value and the process of rose-oil, rose water, and rose cream technology in Turkey are explained compare with the other countries conditions. Also we are focused the marketing of these products and the importance of collaboration with the other countries for this aim.
