Abstract

In this study we explored the impact of family structure on aggressive behavior at preadolescents. The research sample represent 219 preadolescents: N=61 from single-parent families and N=158 coming from complete families. Following the application of the t-test, the results revealed statistically significant differences against of respondents from single-parent families. Differences appear at the level of the Anger and Hostility subscales, as well as for the total aggression score. For the Anger variable, the difference is ΔM=-0.46 (single parent M=2.847; in the complete family M=2.378), significant for t(217)=-3.333, p=0.001. No statistically significant differences were observed at the level of physical or verbal aggression.
