Abstract
ROLLS-ROYCE Motor Cars has unveiled an experimental luxury electric vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show. It plans to take the car around the world this year to assess reaction from existing owners and other stakeholders. The one-off 102EX is a fully electric-powered Phantom, also known as Phantom Experimental Electric (EE). During a global programme that takes in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America, it will serve as a test bed to gather a bank of owner research, based on feedback from test drives. The company says this will be crucial in informing future decisions on alternative drive-trains. The programme will examine the car's ability to deliver an acceptable range between recharges and to operate in extreme weather conditions. It will also benchmark reliability and quality against what customers expect of Rolls-Royce.
