Abstract

Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death in the US and worldwide. Early diagnosis and treatment remain the key to success. In this article, we will look at the importance of computed coronary angiography (CCTA) in the evaluation of patients with persistent chest pain, the plaque assessment criteria and its role as a tool in the diagnosis and prevention of coronary artery disease. Recent studies support the use of computerized coronary angiography (CCTA) based on the ability to diagnose and stage atherosclerotic disease and to further effectively define strategies in prevention and lifestyle improvement.
