Abstract

Background T cell immunoglobulin domain and mucin domain (TIM) molecules can regulate T cell immune responses.TIM4 is exclusively expressed in APCs.As a strong immune costimulatory molecule in T cell activation,it can regulate Th cell proliferation and differentiation. Objective Clarify the mechanism of T cell immune response regulated by TIM4 and its ligands, and explore the role of TIM4 in disease.Content To review the recent advance of TIM4 molecule and the role of TIM4 in diseases.Trend The role of TIM4 in T cell proliferation and inhibition depend on its ligand and the stage of T cell differentiation.TIM4 regulated immune responses are associated with many kinds of diseases, making TIM4 a new target for therapy. Key words: T cell immunoglobulin domain and mucin domain 4; Th cell activation; Antigen presenting cells; Anaphylaxis; Immune tolerance
