Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is regarded as the most common cause of chronic peripheral neuropathy. It arises when blood sugar levels are high, causing damage to the nerves. In the meantime, the nerve conduction study (NCS) is the gold standard tool to diagnose diabetic polyneuropathy, the sensory nerve of the leg in the calf region is called the sural nerve. It is the continuation of the tibial nerve at this body part.
