Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of WC particles on the quality of laser cladding composite coatings, and to study the microstructure, phase constituents comprehensively, and corrosion properties of composite coatings. The conventional WC particles of micron size and ultrafine particles of nano were introduced in the system. The experimental results show that there is a considerably self-corrosion potential to −0.093 V, and a self-corrosion current density of 6.24 × 10−7 A·cm2 were achieved owing to the synergistic effect of excellent performance and fine microstructures of the composite coatings with the ultrafine WC particles of nano size.
