Abstract

Accumulating of evidence has shown that inflammatory responses play critical roles in myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury. Abundant of studies had been devoted to investigate the mechanism underlie the myocardial reperfusion injury that mediated by immune cells. Here, the experimental evidence and potential mechanisms of neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, lymphocytes and mast cells in myocardial reperfusion injury will be reviewed. Besides, we will also describe the current problems and the future direction in this field. Key words: Myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury; Immune cells; Inflammatory responses
