Abstract

Within the framework of the unified theory of electron transfer reactions in solutions the influence of lifetime of excitations on kinetics and quantum yields of ionization and recombination was studied. The effect of the lifetime on the shape of the initial ion distribution was analyzed and found to be very important when ionization is diffusionally controlled. The Stern-Volmer constant was also calculated and compared with one obtained within the contact approximation.
