Abstract
Today's Internet age has raised education to the next level and created revolution and it is named as Education 4.0. Education 4.0 is an education revolution that makes education as flexible and customized one for the students. This is possible by incorporating latest technologies like Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, cyber security, Internet of Things, robotics, etc. Big Data analytics refers to the process of examining the tremendous volume of data to uncover hidden information. Big Data can handle structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data formats. Traditional database techniques and tools are not able to process these enormous data volumes. Hence, various data analytics tools have introduced to analyze the Big Data. The purpose of this chapter is to describe the use of Big Data analytics in Education domain. The role of Big Data analytics in the education sector is significant. The outcome of this analysis will provide enormous benefits to students, staff and institutions. This chapter would intend to discuss about how to analyze the educational data to improve the quality of education. It will discuss how Big Data technology will be used to assess the student performance, evaluation strategies, preparation of question papers, online examinations, comparison of curriculum, open source educational tools, web based learning, etc.
