Abstract

Summary RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to analyze the conditions and possibilities of using entrepreneurship education in higher education for the development of skills in support of sustainable development. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The development of entrepreneurial competencies is gaining an attention especially in the area of higher education because at this level of education, young people are prepared to enter the labor market, which can be shaped in line with the principles of sustainable development. The research design refers to the theoretical framework and conceptual research model. The used research methods are the method of analysis and logical construction as well as analysis of secondary data. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: First, the essence of entrepreneurship education and the importance of entrepreneurial competence as a goal of education will be presented. Then an attempt is made to conceptualize entrepreneurial competencies that support sustainable development in higher education. RESEARCH RESULTS: This analysis will identify current directions and trends in the development of the field of entrepreneurship education within the context of sustainable development, as well as assessing the role of higher education in the development of entrepreneurial competencies to support sustainable development. Therefore, a conceptual model will be proposed, which is an attempt to conceptualize entrepreneurial competencies that contribute to meeting current challenges in the context of sustainable development. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Measures for entrepreneurship education undertaken by institutions of higher education can have a positive impact on the development of entrepreneurial competencies, that foster the sustainable development. For this purpose amendments in thinking and action are required. Among the variety of entrepreneurial competencies that support activities for sustainable development, e.g. innovativeness, interdisciplinarity, proactiveness can be mentioned.
