Abstract

Rodney Aist (Course Director, St. George’s College, Jerusalem) has written an insightful book about Jerusalem pilgrim texts with a focus on three interrelated texts in the genre: Eucherius’s Letter to Faustus, Adomnán’s De locis sanctis (Adls), and Bede’s De locis sanctis (Bdls). All three pilgrim texts were written at a distance from Jerusalem itself. The writers synthesized their works from secondary sources in their home countries of France, Ireland (Iona), and England (Wearmouth and Jarrow, Northumbria) respectively.
