Abstract
Compared with traditional metallic glass materials, the amorphous transformer core is hydrophilic and fragile due to its production process. This situation will inevitably cause difficulties in the protection and moisture-proof of the transformer core, especially in mine-environment. To overcome this issue, it is advisable to utilize a superhydrophobic surface to reduce the influence of moisture. In this work, we display a facile air spray technology under room temperature for preparing robust superhydrophobic coating which is suitable for bulk metallic glass (BMG) transformer cores. The technology ensures that the characteristics of the BMG core itself are not affected. Meanwhile, the fabricated coating has excellent repellency to water, saturated sodium chloride solution, acidic and alkaline solutions. In addition, the coating has excellent self-cleaning and mechanical properties, which can effectively protect the damage and pollution caused by mine-environment. This work can provide a brand-new solution for the storage of the amorphous transformer core in harsh environment.
