Abstract

The performance of the infrared search and track system depends on the robust of the infrared small target detection. In this paper, a novel small target detection with multi-feature fusion is proposed. At first, the salient proposal region is obtained with phase spectrum Fourier transform (PFT). Then, geometric moment is utilized to design an adaptive steerable edges awareness factor, which effectively eliminates the strong edge clutters. Afterwards, we adopt a three-layers local contrast structure and the difference-ration form is introduced to enhance the target and suppress the complex backgrounds. Finally, the adaptive threshold is applied to extract the target in the saliency map. Experiments are conducted on four real IR image sequences, which demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the comparing methods with various complex backgrounds.
