Abstract

Robotic surgery is experiencing considerable development across surgical disciplines worldwide. The increasing number of robotic centres, as well as the expansion of the spectrum of robotically assisted minimally invasive procedures contribute to the increase in the number of performed procedures. Compared to laparoscopy or open surgery, robotic surgery offers several advantages, while maintaining adequate safety and oncological radicality of the operations. Pancreatic surgery is currently a hot topic in robotic surgery worldwide. Czech Republic is also following this trend. Robotic surgery is gradually being introduced to established pancreatic centres. The Department of Surgery of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the Central Military Hospital in Prague ranks among the pioneers of this industry. In this communication, we present a summary of our first experiences with robotic pancreatic surgery. Keywords robotic pancreatic surgery, miniinvazivní chirurgie, robotic surgery, robotic pancreatoduodenectomy, robotic distal pancreatectomy
