Abstract
In April 2002, working with a team of neurosurgeons and the help of the robotic arm (Automatic Endoscopic System for Optimal Positioning or AESOP 3000) with voice recognition, we performed endoscopic transnasal hypophysectomies in 7 cases of pituitary tumors. We modified the technique we previously reported. The main modifications in the technique were the position of the robot in relation to the patient, a more oblique position of the arm, the application of a microdebrider, a zoom lens with voice recognition, and computer-aided surgery (Brain Laboratory). All of these combined saved time and gave us flexibility during the procedure.
