Abstract

Industrial robotics has proved to be a key technology for flexible automation in manufacturing and assembly. The prime emphasis for future research will concern the integration of robots into computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) systems. In this paper a research project on the “Operational Control of Robot System Integration into CIM” will be presented. The main components of this project are the development of a computer-aided planning system and the establishment of an offline programming system for robots. The interrelationship between these two areas will be discussed as well.
