Abstract

This paper mainly studies about the road user's behavior when crossing urban intersection, including the confliction patterns among motors, non-motors and pedestrians, the influence on motor vehicles of non-motors' and pedestrians' violating behavior, and departure headways with and without disturbance on the urban signalized intersection. Most researchers pay much attention to the work of planning method or control strategy, and bring forward various simulating models, but no deeper researches about confliction among motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles and pedestrians are presented. Distinguished from traditional simulation models, this paper seeks to statistic models of road user's confliction behavior based on traffic data collected from urban intersections, and validate these models using different traffic data. It is shown that these established statistic models can apply to mixed traffic flow condition appropriately, which means these models can be used in traffic engineering, micro traffic simulation and traffic signal control strategy.
