Abstract

The road design Rules often refer to information, values and methodologies recommended in bibliographic references: the driver eye height from ground is one of these. In this work a series of height values was obtained by cross pictures of travelling cars; a second data set comes from scale sketches of passenger cars. The results, even though partial, have made possible to study sides of the road safety due to real values of the driver eye height. This is one of the parameters to estimate the minimum radius in vertical crest and marginally be considered also to check the minimum lateral distance of an obstacle to visibility in horizontal curves.
