Abstract

The mythical reading of the musical work Ritual do Amanhecer [Morning ritual] by the Brazilian composer and pianist Amaral Vieira, inserted in the cycle of 13 pieces named Rituais para piano a quatro maos, opus 167, composed in 1982, highlights a phenomenological analysis of the work, where the musical phenomena are treated as cause and effect of feelings and emotions and the act of composing itself is coated with sacredness. In this inter-semiotic reading, the analysis is not restricted to revealing the musical contents expressed in the score, but it is also intended to verify the subjective and interpretative elements in the work of art and in what measure the mythical language is similar to the musical language in its temporal aspect. Keyword: Musical analysis, phenomenological analysis, mythical reading, musical work, semiotics.
