Abstract

This is the first in a two-part paper in which Johan Henning and Gerrie Eberson provide an insightful exploration of the possibilities provided by the growth of the Internet in South Africa and provide an assessment of the potential risks to the South African markets posed by market manipulation, insider trading, money laundering, viruses, hackers, software piracy and electronic espionage and discuss some of the possible solutions to these growing problems.
