Abstract

To the Editor: Dissecting cellulitis of the scalp (DCS) is a chronic, inflammatory condition characterized by suppurative nodules, draining sinuses, and scarring on the scalp. It is associated with acne conglobata, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), and pilonidal sinus, all of which are parts of the follicular occlusion tetrad. Studies have shown a correlation between obesity and smoking in HS patients.1-3 Since DCS and HS share a similar pathophysiology, they may share comorbidities.
