Abstract

This article describes process of designing new type of magnetron, based on Magnetron with Diffraction Output (MDO). It consists of Rising Sun anode structure, has megawatt range of output power, and works on L-band frequencies. It is shown that modifying classic anode cavities to Rising Sun type- structure is possible and it provides better mode separation and more stable signal. Design process was supported by Particle-in-Cell simulations in CST Studio Suite [6].
